Last night was an extra-special date night for Blake and I – we got a sneak peek at an amazing restaurant in Newport before it’s  grand re-opening.  The Ritz Prime Seafood restaurant is located on the PCH – 2801 West Coast Highway, Newport Beach to be exact (right by Billy’s at the Beach).  You can’t beat the location, right on the docks among the boats – but the renovation they did on the restaurant is amazing.  I’ll let the pictures speak to that!  imageThe Ritz Prime Seafood | Palms to Pines

The atmosphere in the restaurant was great already, and we loved each and every member of the staff we worked with.  Our main server was Cody, and he had the best recommendations for us.  We joked that we are definitely going to ask for him whenever we go in!

As for the food…geez.  We were so spoiled with so many things we love!  We started the night with some sushi rolls, and they were SO good and so fresh.  My very favorite was the lobster roll – on top was a mango salsa with wasabi infused caviar.  YOU GUYS.  I died…wasabi with that caviar crunch?!  Out of this world.  We also tried the braised short rib and scallops.  I could have just had that as my meal…literally melts in your mouth, and those scallops are like buttah!  A few other appetizers pictured below…TheRitzPrimeSeafood_AnneWatsonPhoto_057TheRitzPrimeSeafood_AnneWatsonPhoto_073TheRitzPrimeSeafood_AnneWatsonPhoto_095TheRitzPrimeSeafood_AnneWatsonPhoto_096

Blake chose the NY Strip Steak for his entree, and I had the swordfish.  Both were so so good, we just kept swapping plates because we couldn’t decide which we liked better.  Some other entrees people were dying over were the grilled lobster, the bone-in filet minon, and the Whole Branzin..TheRitzPrimeSeafood_AnneWatsonPhoto_111TheRitzPrimeSeafood_AnneWatsonPhoto_127TheRitzPrimeSeafood_AnneWatsonPhoto_138

For dessert, they brought out an 8 LAYER coconut cream cake…are you kidding me?  I’m usually not a frosting girl, but I couldn’t get enough of the light cream cheese frosting and the flakes of coconut on the top.TheRitzPrimeSeafood_AnneWatsonPhoto_191

Not only was the meal and food amazing, but it was so special to be apart of the opening of what’s bound to be a special place for so many people in our community.  I still can’t believe it was their first night cooking and serving, everything was flawless and so so pleasant.  As we were leaving I stopped to go to the restroom, and saw one of the servers in there.  She was so sweet – we chatted a bit about how great everything was, and as we parted ways she said “Have a beautiful night!” and I thought to myself, “Yes! This really is SUCH a beautiful night!”The Ritz Prime Seafood | Palms to Pines

Here’s to our first of many memories at the Ritz Prime!  I honestly cannot wait to try brunch there – it sounds amazing.  I highly recommend you go when it opens this coming Monday, the 12th.  With the iconic location and Newport views, it’s also a great place to go if you’re visiting from out of town or if you live here and want somewhere to take guests who are visiting.  Let me know what you think!
