Last night, to celebrate Summer Solstice, we ate cheesecake! Cheesecake is a rare occurrence around here – I usually only make it once a year for Blake’s birthday. I learned how to make it the year we were engaged – Blake’s mom Becky used to make it for his birthday every year growing up and he loves her cheesecake. She was sweet enough to teach me how, and I’m still trying to perfect mine but I think it gets a little closer each time!

My little brother is in town and mentioned how he’s been on a cheesecake kick lately, so of course I had to make him Becky’s! This was the first time I was able to make it without it cracking in the middle! I followed some advice I got on Instagram after the last time I made it, and put a cookie sheet with a bit of water in it on a rack underneath the cheesecake in the oven. Some people also suggested cracking the oven when it’s done to cool it down more slowly, so that’s something else I could try next time!

Once we had the cheesecake, I decided we should use it as an excuse to have friends over, and celebrate Summer Solstice! I always want to stay outside until all of the light has officially left the sky on Summer Solstice, just to get every bit of that longest day. So we sat on our patio talking and eating cheesecake. I set out topping choices – strawberries, blueberries, rasberries, blackberries, fresh whipped cream, candied pecans, Oreos, Reeses, and caramel.

…WHAT I WORE

It’s been so hot and muggy around here that all I want to wear are light and breezy things. I fell in love with this romper from Stillwater when I first saw it, and I’m so glad I’ve been able to still wear it pregnant. I wore it all day yesterday running around and cleaning, and then still felt cute when people came over. Stillwater is one of those brands that I love normally and have been able to find lots of pieces to continue to wear pregnant. Thank you for that, Stillwater!!
