Let me start this post by saying that I’m SUPER sensitive to smells, and VERY picky about my deodorant. I’m always paranoid of smelling weird – like, I have to go into hiding right after getting a spray tan. When I met Blake, he was pretty passionate about not using deodorant with aluminum. For those who are like me back then and don’t know, aluminum blocks your sweat glands, preventing you from sweating which you are meant to do to release necessary toxins. Also, several studies found that aluminum may contribute to the formation of certain types of cancers and Alzheimer’s disease…ugh.
I started making sure I wasn’t using “anti-perspirant”, but have been wanting to find a totally natural deodorant that actually works. I’ve tried a few “natural” deodorants that seemed to do nothing, so I was pretty skeptical when I heard about Kopari’s new coconut oil deodorant. I went through the 2-week detox process (it’s a real thing – you can read more about it here, it’s actually so interesting!) and now I’m feeling good AND I love the smell. It’s like this barely-there summery smell, definitely not overpowering at all.

So what’s in it? Coconut oil, a plant-based active, sage oil, and coconut water. All natural ingredients that are antimicrobial, anti-bacterial, nourishing and hydrating. I love that it’s clear – doesn’t get on my clothes – and doesn’t irritate my skin at all. I like the way this little video about how #TheTruthStinks puts things in perspective ;).
If you’re like me and have hated all of the other natural deodorants you’ve tried – please try this stuff! I’m so so happy I discovered it, and this is coming from someone who never thought she’d be able to commit to a “natural” deodorant ;). I want to know if it works for you, too!
