One of the best things about this house is that Tahni was willing to combine different styles to get the look she really wanted. The kitchen/dining area creates an eclectic blend with open shelving, classic white subway tiling, a big white farmhouse sink, antique gold hardware, and midcentury modern lighting. The island is another striking nod to mid-century modern style, with an extra thick white quartz waterfall countertop. Who says you can’t have it all? 😉
The Lighting
One of our favorite designers used frequently throughout the house is a lighting company based in Portland, Oregon called Cedar and Moss. (I suggest you don’t click on that link unless you’re planning on buying a light today, because you won’t be able to help yourself!) Here in the kitchen, the lights above the open shelving are the Tilt Cone design, and the pendant lights above the island are the Alto Rod design with the brass finish and the opal shade.
The Range
The star of the kitchen is hands down the amazing French stove! We can’t tell you how many people have already asked about it, and it’s obvious why…it’s BEAUTIFUL. It’s made by the French brand La Cornue, which has been around for 100 years. They’ve seriously perfected the art of gastronomics – in other words, you’d be hard-pressed to find a better (or more beautiful) gas range, and it comes in several custom colors and styles. These ranges can be hard to get in a short amount of time and expensive to ship, but we were lucky enough to get a little help from my mother-in-law, Becky Nyman. She’s offered to help anyone who wants the stove get exactly what they need with faster, cheaper shipping – just email her at beckynyman22@gmail.com. If you want to order it online on your own, you can get it here.
